Bago mo simulan ang Day 1 ng Korean Alphabet Master series, pag-usapan muna natin ang pinakamahalagang unang hakbang: 4 Golden Rules para sa pag-aaral ng Korean. Rule 1. Concept of “Letter Blocks”
ENG: In Korean, a single consonant or vowel is NOT a letter. You must combine Consonant + Vowel to make ONE letter block.
📍 Example (Letter Count):
– English: “English” = 7 Letters (e-n-g-l-i-s-h)
– Korean: “잉글리시” = 4 Letters (4 Blocks: 잉, 글, 리, 시)
TAG: Sa Korean, ang isang katinig o patinig lamang ay HINDI pa isang titik. Kailangan ang kombinasyon ng Katinig + Patinig para mabuo ang ISANG letter block.
Rule 2. Concept of “Syllables”
ENG: In Korean, one letter block is exactly one syllable. The number of syllables in Korean often differs from English!
📍 Example (Syllable Count):
– English: “Eng-lish” = 2 Syllables
– Korean: “잉-글-리-시” = 4 Syllables (4 Blocks)
TAG: Sa Korean, ang isang letter block ay katumbas ng isang pantig (syllable). Magkaiba ang bilang ng pantig sa Ingles at Korean!
Rule 3. Real Sounds vs. English Guide
ENG: Korean sounds are not exactly like English. Use English Romanization only as a guide at the start. You must master the real Korean sound.
TAG: Ang mga tunog ng Korean ay hindi eksaktong tulad ng English. Gamitin lang ang Ingles bilang gabay sa simula, pero dapat mong makuha ang tunay na tunog ng Korean.
Rule 4. Sound First, Writing Later
ENG: The written word and the actual sound are often different. Learn the sound first, then learn how to write it.
📍 Example (Pronunciation change):
– Write: 관리자 (Gwan-li-ja) ✍️
– Speak: 괄리자 (Gwal-li-ja) 🗣️
TAG: Madalas na magkaiba ang sinulat sa totoong tunog. Alamin muna ang tunog bago ito isulat.
ENG: Why do these 4 Golden Rules matter so much? Because most learners who give up on Korean made one simple mistake: they tried to memorize letters and words without understanding how the language actually works. When you understand that Korean is built from letter blocks, that each block is one syllable, that Romanization is only a temporary guide, and that sound always comes before spelling — every single lesson from Day 1 to Day 7 will click into place much faster. Think of these Golden Rules as the map before the journey. You wouldn’t start driving to a new city without checking the route first, right? The same is true for learning Hangul. Keep these 4 rules in mind as you go through the next 7 days, and you’ll notice patterns that other learners often miss completely.
