Where the Action Happens (Kung Saan Nangyayari ang Kilos)

🇵🇭 Teka muna! Mas madali ang grammar kapag alam mo na ang mga salita — kung hindi mo pa naaral ang Chapter 6-2 Vocabulary (Daily Routine), i-memorize muna ito! Ngayon, aralin natin ang 에서, isa pang paraan para pag-usapan ang lugar — pero may kaibahan.

📌 1. What is 에서?

에서 combines with a place noun to show where an action is happening.
🇵🇭 Idinidikit ang 에서 sa pangngalan ng lugar upang ipakita kung saan nangyayari ang isang kilos.

[Basic pattern] [Place] + 에서
No batchim rule — 에서 always stays the same!

This simply means: “at/in [Place], (someone does something).”

💡 TIP: 에서 vs 에 — what’s the difference?
Both attach to a place noun, but they’re NOT interchangeable! 에서 shows where an action happens (verbs like eat, read, exercise). 에 shows where someone or something simply exists or is headed (있어요, 가요).
🇵🇭 Pareho silang idinidikit sa pangngalan ng lugar, pero hindi sila puwedeng pagpalitin! Ipinapakita ng 에서 kung saan nangyayari ang isang kilos (kumain, magbasa, mag-ehersisyo). Ipinapakita naman ng 에 kung saan simpleng naroroon o pupuntahan ang isang tao o bagay (있어요, 가요).
Example: 왕민 씨는 기숙사에서 청소해요. (action) / 유수프 씨는 공원에 있어요. (existence)

가: 푸캄 씨는 지금 뭐 해요? 나: 휴게실에서 쉬어요.	🇺🇸 A: What is Pukham doing now? B: Resting in the lounge. 🇵🇭 Ano ang ginagawa ni Pukham ngayon? / Nagpapahinga sa lounge.

💡 Quick tip: Quick test — 왕민 씨는 기숙사( 에 / 에서 ) 가요? Answer: 에! Because “가다” is about a destination, not an action happening there. Try this trick on every sentence: “Is this an action happening HERE, or just existing/heading there?”
