Step 1. Look, Listen, Speak, Write & Relax: Look at the word. Press the listen button and repeat again and again until you feel you’ve fully memorized it! Input the word into your brain using your eyes, ears, and mouth muscles. Write it down if you want to practice writing as well! Then, take a 10-minute break. Close your eyes and comfortably recall the words like you are meditating. Don’t force it, just relax!

Step 2. The 4-Step Spaced Repetition: Finished the first loop? Wait 10 to 20 minutes, then go back to the beginning. This is your 1st review! Focus on the words you couldn’t memorize. Press the listen button as much as possible and repeat. (Remember: If you don’t know the meaning, a word is just a secret code, and a voice is just noise!) Do your 2nd review the Next Day, 3rd review Next Week, and 4th review in 4 Weeks. The words will move to your long-term memory!

Step 3. Create the “Nova Prison” Folder: Still can’t memorize some stubborn words? Take a screenshot and create a special “Nova Prison” folder on your phone or computer! Lock those words inside. Review them in your free time, and release them only when you’ve memorized them perfectly!

🔧 How to Build the Past Tense (-았어요/었어요)

Same rule as Haeyo Form present tense — just look at the last vowel of the stem, but this time add -았어요, -었어요, or -했어요:

  • Stem’s last vowel is ㅏ or ㅗ → add -았어요   (가다 → 갔어요, 오다 → 왔어요)
  • Any other vowel → add -었어요   (먹다 → 먹었어요, 마시다 → 마셨어요)
  • -하다 verbs → always become -했어요   (일하다 → 일했어요, 공부하다 → 공부했어요)

🇵🇭 Parehong panuntunan tulad ng present tense — tingnan lang ang huling patinig ng stem, pero ngayon idagdag ang -았어요, -었어요, o -했어요: ㅏ/ㅗ → -았어요, ibang patinig → -었어요, at lahat ng -하다 verb → laging nagiging -했어요.

💡 Heads Up: A Few Irregulars

A handful of verbs in this list change their stem before adding the ending — 듣다 → 들었어요, 걷다 → 걸었어요, 모르다 → 몰랐어요, 쓰다 → 썼어요, 끄다 → 껐어요. Don’t worry about memorizing the grammar rule for these — just learn them as whole words, the same way you’re learning everything else here!
(May ilang verbs na nagbabago ang stem bago idagdag ang ending. Huwag mag-alala tungkol sa grammar rule para dito — matutunan lang ang mga ito bilang buong salita!)
