🇵🇭 Teka muna! Mas madali ang grammar kapag alam mo na ang mga salita — kung hindi mo pa naaral ang Chapter 25-2 Vocabulary (Program Sign-Up), i-memorize muna ito! Ngayon, aralin natin ang -기 때문에, isang malakas na paraan ng pagpapaliwanag ng “dahil.”

📌 1. What is -기 때문에?

-기 때문에 is attached to verbs and adjectives to show that the preceding content is the reason or cause for what follows.
🇵🇭 Idinidikit ang -기 때문에 sa mga pandiwa at pang-uri upang ipakita na ang naunang laman ang dahilan o sanhi ng susunod.

[Basic pattern] Verb/Adj. stem + -기 때문에

This simply means: “Because [A], [B].”

💡 TIP: Works with nouns too
With a noun, just use “noun + 때문에” directly — no need for -기.
🇵🇭 Sa pangngalan, gamitin lang ang “noun + 때문에” direkta — hindi na kailangan ng -기.
Example: 감기 때문에 회사에 못 갔어요. (Because of a cold, I couldn’t go to work.)
💡 Remember: “Stem” means removing -다 first! Full explanation in Chapter 4-1.
🇵🇭 Tandaan: tinatanggal muna ang -다 para makuha ang “stem”! Buong paliwanag sa Chapter 4-1.

🇵🇭 Dahil umuulan ng snow ngayon, magiging matrapik ang kalsada.
내일 건강 검진을 받기 때문에 저녁을 안 먹어요. 🇺🇸 Because I have a medical checkup tomorrow, I’m not eating dinner.
🇵🇭 Dahil may medical checkup ako bukas, hindi ako kakain ng hapunan.
저는 한국어를 잘 못하기 때문에 한국어 수업을 신청했어요. 🇺🇸 Because I’m not good at Korean, I signed up for a Korean class.
🇵🇭 Dahil hindi ako magaling sa Korean, nag-sign up ako sa Korean class.
토픽 시험이 있기 때문에 공부를 열심히 해야 돼요. 🇺🇸 Because I have a TOPIK exam, I have to study hard.
🇵🇭 Dahil may TOPIK exam ako, kailangan kong mag-aral nang mabuti.
💡 Quick tip: -기 때문에 is stronger and more formal than -아서/어서 or -(으)니까 — great for written applications, letters, or explaining serious reasons like exams and health checkups.
