Purpose of Going Somewhere (Layunin ng Pagpunta)
🛑 WAIT! Grammar is way easier once you know the words — if you haven’t studied Chapter 25-1 Vocabulary (Education Programs) yet, go memorize them first! Today we’ll learn -(으)러, a close cousin of last chapter’s -(으)려고.
🇵🇭 Teka muna! Mas madali ang grammar kapag alam mo na ang mga salita — kung hindi mo pa naaral ang Chapter 25-1 Vocabulary (Education Programs), i-memorize muna ito! Ngayon, aralin natin ang -(으)러, malapit na kamag-anak ng -(으)려고 sa nakaraang chapter.

📌 1. What is -(으)러?
-(으)러 is attached to a verb to show the purpose of a MOVEMENT — why you’re going somewhere.
🇵🇭 Idinidikit ang -(으)러 sa isang pandiwa upang ipakita ang layunin ng isang PAGPUNTA — kung bakit ka pupunta sa isang lugar.
✅ Verb stem WITH a Final Consonant (받침 O) 👉 + -으러 (e.g., 먹다 → 먹으러)
✅ Verb stem WITHOUT a Final Consonant, or 받침 ‘ㄹ’ 👉 + -러 (e.g., 배우다 → 배우러, 만들다 → 만들러)
-(으)러 can ONLY be followed by movement verbs like 가다(go), 오다(come), or 다니다(attend). -(으)려고 (Chapter 24-1) works with ANY verb.
🇵🇭 Ang -(으)러 ay puwede lang sundan ng mga pandiwa ng paggalaw tulad ng 가다, 오다, o 다니다. Ang -(으)려고 (Chapter 24-1) ay gumagana sa KAHIT ANONG pandiwa.
✅ 밥을 먹으려고 손을 씻어요. ❌ 밥을 먹으러 손을 씻어요. (씻다 is not movement!)
🇵🇭 Tandaan: tinatanggal muna ang -다 para makuha ang “stem”! Buong paliwanag sa Chapter 4-1.
