📌 1. What is 이에요/예요?

이에요/예요 combines with a noun to make a sentence in an everyday, informal setting — while still being polite to the listener. To ask a question, use 이에요/예요? with a rising tone at the end.
🇵🇭 Ginagamit ang 이에요/예요 sa pang-araw-araw, di-gaanong pormal na sitwasyon — pero magalang pa rin sa kausap. Para magtanong, gamitin ang 이에요/예요? na may pataas na tono sa dulo.

[Basic pattern]
✅ Noun WITH a Final Consonant (받침 O) 👉 + 이에요 (e.g., 컵 → 컵이에요)
✅ Noun WITHOUT a Final Consonant (받침 X) 👉 + 예요 (e.g., 시계 → 시계예요)

💡 TIP: 이에요/예요 vs 입니다
이에요/예요 is used in friendly, informal situations (everyday talk with coworkers, shopkeepers, acquaintances). 입니다 is used in formal settings like meetings or presentations — the one you learned in Chapter 1-1!
🇵🇭 Ginagamit ang 이에요/예요 sa magiliw, di-pormal na sitwasyon (araw-araw na usapan sa katrabaho, tindera, kakilala). Ginagamit naman ang 입니다 sa pormal na sitwasyon tulad ng miting o presentasyon — ang natutunan mo sa Chapter 1-1!
Example: 프엉 씨는 베트남 사람입니다. (formal version of the same sentence)

📖 2. Example Sentences

Korean Meaning (English / Tagalog)
가: 이건 뭐예요? 🇺🇸 A: What is this?
🇵🇭 Ano ito?
나: 계산기예요. 🇺🇸 B: It’s a calculator.
🇵🇭 Kalkulator ito.
가: 이건 볼펜이에요? 🇺🇸 A: Is this a pen?
🇵🇭 Ballpen ba ito?
나: 네, 볼펜이에요. 🇺🇸 B: Yes, it’s a pen.
🇵🇭 Oo, ballpen ito.
💡 Quick tip: Same rule as 은/는 — just check the last letter! (Batchim O = 이에요, Batchim X = 예요). If you can say 은/는 correctly, you already know this pattern too!
