Verb Stem + -고 싶다

🇵🇭 Teka muna! Mas madali ang grammar kapag alam mo na ang mga salita — kung hindi mo pa naaral ang Chapter 16-1 Vocabulary (Housing Types), i-memorize muna ito! Ngayon, aralin natin ang -고 싶다, kung paano sabihin ang GUSTO mong gawin.

📌 1. What is -고 싶다?

-고 싶다 is attached to a verb to express a wish or desire. Used with “I” in statements, and with “you” in questions.
🇵🇭 Idinidikit ang -고 싶다 sa isang pandiwa upang ipahayag ang isang hangarin o gusto. Ginagamit kasama ng “ako” sa pahayag, at ng “ikaw” sa tanong.

[Basic pattern] Verb stem + -고 싶다

This simply means: “I want to [verb].” / “Do you want to [verb]?”

💡 TIP: Talking about someone else’s wish
To talk about a THIRD person’s wish or desire (not you, not the listener), add -고 싶어 하다 instead.
🇵🇭 Para pag-usapan ang hangarin ng IBANG TAO (hindi ikaw, hindi ang kausap mo), idagdag ang -고 싶어 하다 sa halip.
Example: 아내는 고향에서 살고 싶어 해요. (My wife wants to live in her hometown.)
💡 Remember: “Stem” means removing -다 first! Full explanation in Chapter 4-1.
🇵🇭 Tandaan: tinatanggal muna ang -다 para makuha ang “stem”! Buong paliwanag sa Chapter 4-1.

🇵🇭 Gusto kong magpahinga sa bahay sa weekend.
보증금이 싼 집을 구하고 싶어요. 🇺🇸 I want to find a house with a cheap deposit.
🇵🇭 Gusto kong makahanap ng bahay na mura ang deposit.
전망이 좋은 빌라로 이사하고 싶어요. 🇺🇸 I want to move to a villa with a nice view.
🇵🇭 Gusto kong lumipat sa villa na magandang tanawin.
💡 Quick tip: No batchim rule, no vowel check — just attach -고 싶다 to any verb stem. Simple and useful for house-hunting conversations!
