Expressing Surprise (Pagpapahayag ng Pagkagulat)

🇵🇭 Teka muna! Mas madali ang grammar kapag alam mo na ang mga salita — kung hindi mo pa naaral ang Chapter 10-1 Vocabulary (Item Conditions), i-memorize muna ito! Ngayon, aralin natin ang -네요, kung paano tumugon nang bahagyang “ay!” na may pagkagulat.

📌 1. What is -네요?

-네요 is attached to verbs and adjectives to lightly express surprise or admiration about something you just noticed, felt, or learned.
🇵🇭 Idinidikit ang -네요 sa mga pandiwa at pang-uri upang bahagyang ipahayag ang pagkagulat o paghanga sa isang bagay na kababansag mo lang, naramdaman, o nalaman.

[Basic pattern] Verb/Adj. stem + -네요

This simply means: “Oh, [it’s] ___!” or “Wow, [you/it] ___!”

💡 TIP: ‘ㄹ’ dropping
If a verb/adjective stem ends in ㄹ, that ㄹ is dropped when combined with an ending that starts with ㄴ, ㅂ, or ㅅ (like -네요).
🇵🇭 Kung ang stem ng pandiwa/pang-uri ay nagtatapos sa ㄹ, nawawala ang ㄹ na iyon kapag pinagsama sa ending na nagsisimula sa ㄴ, ㅂ, o ㅅ (tulad ng -네요).
Example: 길다 (long) → 바지가 좀 기네요. (not 길네요!)
💡 Remember: “Stem” means removing -다 first! Full explanation in Chapter 4-1.
🇵🇭 Tandaan: tinatanggal muna ang -다 para makuha ang “stem”! Buong paliwanag sa Chapter 4-1.
