Welcome to K-Nova! I am Teacher Nova. Today, we will learn Double Vowels Part 1 (ㅐ, ㅒ, ㅔ, ㅖ).
(🇵🇭 Maligayang pagdating sa K-Nova! Ngayong araw, pag-aaralan natin ang unang bahagi ng mga Dobleng Patinig.)
💡 Teacher Nova’s Secret Tip! (Sikreto ni Teacher Nova!)
Good news! In modern Korean, ㅐ (ae) and ㅔ (e) sound EXACTLY the same. ㅒ (yae) and ㅖ (ye) also sound the same. Even Koreans cannot hear the difference! Do not stress about the sound. Just memorize the spelling for each word!
(🇵🇭 Magandang balita!
1. The ‘E’ Sounds (ㅐ and ㅔ)
ㅐ (ae): A combination of ㅏ + ㅣ. Sounds like ‘e’ in “Egg”.
(🇵🇭 Pinagsamang ㅏ at ㅣ. Tunog ‘e’.)
ㅔ (e): A combination of ㅓ + ㅣ. Also sounds like ‘e’ in “Egg”.
(🇵🇭 Pinagsamang ㅓ at ㅣ. Tunog ‘e’ rin.)
2. The ‘YE’ Sounds (ㅒ and ㅖ)
ㅒ (yae): A combination of ㅑ + ㅣ. Sounds like ‘ye’ in “Yes”.
(🇵🇭 Pinagsamang ㅑ at ㅣ. Tunog ‘ye’.)
ㅖ (ye): A combination of ㅕ + ㅣ. Also sounds like ‘ye’ in “Yes”.
(🇵🇭 Pinagsamang ㅕ at ㅣ. Tunog ‘ye’ rin.)
